Let's hope they pick the right new owner.

I believe I said this in a previous thread, but I'm hoping for Checketts, I like the way he handled the Blues...

Bernie Miklasz reports that the Rams have been sold to the mysterious third party (not Checketts or the Toronto group). Miklasz believes the new owner has St. Louis roots and wants to keep the Rams here. I would link to the info, but it's from a forum. So keep an eye on St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Rams page.

St. Louis Rams news, schedule, stats, NFL football scores, forums, photos & video

Quote:
Here are the basic facts of what I reported for Thursday's Post-Dispatch:

Name: Shahid Khan.

Who is he: Khan, 55, is the president of Flex-N-Gate Corporation, an auto-parts manufacturer based in Urbana, Ill.

Where does he live: Khan has lived in the Champaign-Urbana area for more than 40 years and is married with two adult children. Khan is a graduate of the school of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois.

What is he buying: According to league sources Khan will purchase the 60 percent of the team owned by Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez. But if Stan Kroenke wants to sell his 40 percent then Khan is prepared to buy that as well.

What are his thoughts on STL and the Rams: Multiple sources describe Khan as an enthusiastic Rams fan who has attended home games at The Edward Jones Dome. League sources say Khan is committed to keeping the team in St. Louis ... which was an important consideration to Rosenbloom and Rodriguez in making their decision to sell to him.

The sale is subject to approval of NFL owners. They can't vote on it until the closing of the sale which probably won't be finished until early April or so.
I would link to it, but, per City-Data rules, I cannot, since it is another forum. All this info is from Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

So what do the good people of St. Louis think about this? Know anything about him? Most important, will he be good for the team?

I haven't heard of him before this but from what I've read (mostly from Bernie Miklasz's column) he seems like a local guy who wants to keep the team here. Therefore, this is definitely good news.

Very happy to hear this I belong to a few rams sites and the LA fanbase has been a bit overbearing. I am loving this.

The dude's from Pakistan. I didn't realize Karachi was part of the Metro East.

Even though I don't follow them, I'm glad the Rams may not be relocating. And Miklasz needs to lay off the Bud and pierogis before writing his column...

He's been here since he was 16. 40 years in the area? I'd say he's a local guy.
