Looking for a 3bed/2bath nice house.
I would add Des Peres to your list. It's not a large community, but it borders Kirkwood, is near hwy transportation, and is often mentioned with the others on your list.

Where in Chicago do you live, and where in Chicago do you like/dislike? That may help.

It has a little bit of everything.

Besides Meacham Park, many African Americans live side by side white people mostly in the areas directly South and East of Nipher Middle school...as well as farther western edges. Not as diverse in other parts.

Compared to many other West County areas, socially, the grade school and high school kids are well integrated, black and white.

You won't find the tear downs in Webster, that you will see in Kirkwood. Kirkwood is also larger than Webster.
.

I would say that describes the area pretty well.

No I moved to West County five years ago. I guess I need a new handle. I moved here from an area in Atlanta(Avondale) that is very similar to these areas. I love certain aspects of living in inner ring suburbs like these. I love classic bungalows, unique business districts, tree lined streets the convenience to all the amenities a big city has to offer. What I don't like is the close proximity to the criminal element. Now that I have kids, that concern has moved up my priority list. In the good old days when I lived in even closer in areas of Atlanta, our main concern was petty theft and panhandling. It seems the offspring of the underclass has turned increasingly more violent recently and I know that the KO game is spreading. I know it started in South City and there have been attacks in the CWE and Dogtown. I was just curious if it had become an issue in areas like Brentwood, Kirkwood and Webster Groves.
