Now that the weather is (finally) warming up, it's now getting to be that time to get and enjoy the outdoors. I am posting these links because I don't think many area residents or visitors know about our great local trails for biking and jogging. Of course we all know about Forest Park, The Katy Trail, and Grants trail. But did you know there is a comprehensive project being worked on to connect all of these trails and create a comprehensive greenway?

Check it out at Great Rivers Greenway The Great Rivers Greenway District | For a clean, green, connected St. Louis region

Click on the projects link at the top and see what they are working on. I guarantee that no matter where in the area you live, there is a project happening close to you.

For those that live in the city and inner county we have the Bike St. Louis system. It is a system of bike lanes, signs, and various bike rack and water stations throughout the city to accommodate cyclists. Check out the map here: Bike St. Louis - St. Louis MO - offering FREE information and maps to bike riders in the St. Louis Missouri area.

Finally there is the active living organization called Trailnet. They plan various bike rides, running activities, and various other outdoors events meant to promote outdoor living in the area. Their ride schedule isn't fully updated for 2010 yet, but I imagine it will be soon. Usually there is a free group bike ride or run every day during the warm months. Check them out here: Trailnet

I know there are other projects and organizations in the area, but I wanted to share a few. This weekend just got me a little too excited about warmer weather...
