I'm disappointed with the shopping in St. Louis. Very disappointed. I know trends don't usually start in the midwest but flow in from the coasts but yet and still St. Louis seems to be lacking too much on the fashion end for it to be a major city. So my question is, to young women in particular, where do you shop? I've had enough of these chain stores in this area, can anyone recommend some stores where I can find some nice trendy dresses or nice shirts that are actually made to fit right? Most of the shirts in the stores that I'm finding look balloon-ish and look like they're made to fit a woman that's 5 months pregnant. I'm never satisfied with the shopping here, I order most of my clothes online. Someone suggested that I go to the Loop, but what's down there? Is it worth the trip? I'm tired of funny made clothes (think Bebe, Charlotte Russe). Where are the glam clothes in St. Louis?

I absolutely hate malls, so I usually go to the Loop, Central West End or Clayton for boutique stores. Clayton:
Byrd: Byrd Style Lounge
Dotdotdash
Doncaster Studio
Laurie Solet

As for the loop, just a few off the top of my head:
Tantrum
Ziezo
Ragorama
Blues
Pitaya

Central West End
Mezzanine
Ivy Hill
Mary Jane's
Cassies

Yeah, I know STL isn't that great when it comes to shopping. I'm from a state where we had, like, 3 Nordstroms within 8 minutes. We only have one here. Central West End and Ladue have some pretty decent clothing stores. Check out Alive magazine, they always have a model monthly feature showing trends coming. WEST County mall and the galleria isn't bad.

There is a ton of boutique shopping if you know where to look. St Louis has the typical mall shopping with any "chain" stores you are used to. If you are looking for higher end (Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, etc) go to Plaza Frontenac.
As for Nordstroms, there is another opening at the Galleria, and Nordstoms Rack is opening in Brentwood.

The Nordstroms is opening in 2011, right?
