Great match and a fun time at the Old Post Office downtown.
Lots of people for a Saturday downtown with a chance of a thunderstorm. I'm not good at estimating crowds but I'm guessing about 500 people in the plaza. Drums, horns, green smoke and singing and all that world-cup soccer stuff.
Bad phone picture of the pre-game before the people showed up--below.

I'll post a picture of the entire crowd during the actual game tomorrow once I upload the pics onto my computer. And I would also say there was about a crowd of 500, it was such a teriffic atmosphere with 98% of the fans there were cheering for the Yanks!!!

Ended up at the dubliner after seeing that the Scottish Arms was way too crowded. The atmosphere was nothing short of electric.

I went by the Post in Maplewood. It was absolutely packed, we ended up having a people over at house instead. That was great to watch. Sounds like downtown would have been cool, though.

What about the german game yesterday. They are a very goodteam. Hope England survive long enough to play them, theEngland v Germany games are always good games. A few yearsago we beat them 5 - 2, what a game that was!! Can't see thathappening again, but you never know, you've got to be anoptomist when you're English. Looking forward to the next USAgame.

I had a busy weekend but caught a good chunk of the games. Germany has definitely had the most impressive performance thus far. USA held their own too. Too bad I will be at work Friday morning.

The only problem I have with World Cup is not knowing how much time is left in the game due to penalties. It would be more exciting in a close game to count down the clock.

But then I ran across this quote which argues against clock games.

"YOU CAN’T SIT ON A LEAD AND RUN A FEW PLAYS INTO THE LINE AND JUST KILL THE CLOCK. YOU’VE GOT TO THROW THE BALL OVER THE G*DD*MN PLATE AND GIVE THE OTHER MAN HIS CHANCE. THAT’S WHY BASEBALL IS THE GREATEST GAME OF THEM ALL." —EARL WEAVER

I hear fireworks -- maybe the Cards just won!
