Guess I'm just wondering how many of you take a fiber supplement and how often you take it? Also, how old are you?
I've been taking Metamucil off and on since my early teens. People always told me, "oh that's for old people" yeah right. When I take it I really notice a difference, and the best part is, I really like the taste.
Also, what brands have you taken and what works the best for you personally?
I started using Metamucil in my early twenties (mid twenties now) and I agree it helps a lot. I started taking it for IBS symptons that I developed due to stress. It really helps regulate my up and down constipation/diarrhea and give normal bowel movements, and I love the taste too!
My only problem with it is that I often forget to use it regularly, but otherwise I've tried to take at least 1.5 tablespoons of it in water per day. When my IBS symptons are bad, I'll take 2.5 tablespoons broken up between morning and evening.
I don't take a fiber supplement per se, but I do eat Chia seeds on a daily basis. I put it in my cereal, my protein drinks or just dump it all in my mouth and swallow it like pills, lol. Chia Seed Benefits: 10 Reasons To Add Chia To Your Diet
I've taken it daily for about 5 years. I'm 47. I shouldn't need it, but I do. I eat an apple every day, raw vegetables every day with my lunch, grapes usually for a snack, yogurt with granola and a high fiber bar for breakfast, often a salad with dinner, and I don't eat read meat (or much meat at all). Can't figure out why I need it, but it works.
So far I've had no problems getting my fiber from the foods I eat. If I had a medical need to add more fiber than what I can get from food, I'd probably go the chewable tablet form. It's a texture thing for me - other than fruit pulp, I don't like "things" in my drinks. Maybe if I sprinkled it in a gravy for my turkey or something -
