Not sure myself, there were some warnings about it in relation to cancer on "In the Pipeline", probably best cycled. But unless it is leading to more ER visits(an argument for supplement regulation in general), I dont get it.
I would like to see some evidence of abuse before regulating. Given the pharma abuse of insulin and epipens, it would be nice to see the govt step in to drop the patents and make them over the counter.
NAC was approved by the FDA as a respiratory DRUG in 1963. If something is approved as a drug by the FDA, and there's no evidence that it was used as a supplement prior to its use as a drug, then it *cannot* be included in a supplement, legally.
You can still get NAC, it's not illegal. As an ingredient in a SUPPLEMENT - it is illegal. As a drug, it is legal, and has been since 1963.
