I wonder if no other county applied for the award because no one has heard of that organization. These things are less about merit and more about advertizing dollars. Just look at the Post Standard and CNY Business Journal, most "awards" go to their advertisers or at least subscribers. I notice that organization requires a membership. I wonder how much money from Onondaga County is going to them.
CNY Business Journal post the top CNY companies in a particular field, but that is not the case. They are the top companies that applied for the award. Most of the real movers and shakers are not wasting their time applying for rinky dink awards or list to show other how good they are to make up for all they are lacking.
This is an award Onondaga County hopes will promote them as the greenest city in the world. It is all a bunch of horse dung.

How do you know? I guess the same can be said for the HS in Missouri that won an award from them as well. Same for MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, which also got an award. paperrecycles.org - Paper Industry Association Council
So there aren't many places that are aware of the EPA, who were *here*, during this past week, to announce Syracuse's placement within the nation's top 10 "green" cities?

I think not.
That award had nothing to do with being the nation's top green cities. That award had to do with grant money for minorities. The "We are So Green" part of it is a spin the Syracuse media put on it so they will look good to companies who are in the "green industry" and so that people around here will have something to brag about. Syracuse basically used the people of the Onondaga Nation to their benefit. I am sure the only thing the actual tribe members did was sign off on the project for kick backs.

Please find me a list of greenest cities that has Syracuse or Onondaga on the list.... that isn't reported or copied from a Syracuse media source. Hate to break it to you, but most cities claim that status across the country and their local media encourages that thought process.

EPA Recognizes Syracuse and Onondaga County for Creating a More Sustainable Community, Including 50 Green Projects; Selects Syracuse as a Green Infrastructure Partnership Community
Where does it place Syracuse on a greenest city list? This is the story I commented on having nothing to do with actual "OMG, we are so green!" If you look closer, this is not from THE EPA, it is from Region 2 (NJ, NY, PR, USVI). So, they should state that Syracuse is "greenest" in Region 2 and not the nation, if we want to be even a little factual.
That is from 2008. But one list from 3 years ago is all I could find too. You would think a top 10 GREEN list would be a big deal.
