Went to the LaFayette Apple Festival yesterday for the first time. The event was a lot larger than I thought it was. I have always heard people talk about how packed it us there, but I think the crummy weather kept people home.
If you are looking to see the fall colors, now is the perfect time to go for a drive down Route 20.
Was the traffic backed up on Route 20? Good point about a good time to drive down Route 20.

Ya know, every year I've been here, I always say I'm going to check out the Apple Fest, but I still haven't made it down there!
I drove on the Thruway from Victor to Utica on Sat and saw some great foliage as well!

The back up wasn't bad at all. There was a short wait because the police were directing traffic, but after tha there were no lines except to get apple fritters from the St. Joe's barn. Tent after tent of crafts, food booths, music, rides, educational displays, and not a single drop of alcohol to be found for those looking for some dry fun. There was something going on in the fields, but I didn't have boots on, so I wasn't going to walk in the mud to find out what it was.
Yeah, the Apple Festival is a good, nice time for anyone. I think people forget about it, because it isn't really publicized like some of the other festivals. I think the weather played a very big part as to why there wasn't as much traffic as there usually is. It is also a great time to drive down Route 20 and check out all of the apple orchards/stands.
Glad you had fun and thanks for the review! I've been wanting to check this out for awhile, but it's hard to get a group of people together to commit. I guess my friends have tried going before but too many people back out last minute. Guess we'll have to try just a few of us. I used to have a horse years ago and I miss riding

My wife and I spent a couple of days in Skaneateles as part of our annual trip to upstate NY for leaf watching. My wife, being a FL native was awe-struck at the scenery on Rt 20. The leaves were fantastic this year. We also did the LaFayette Apple Festival on Sunday. It's one of the reasons I still miss NY so much. We had a great time there and the apple fritters were terrific.
