I was cheering until I read the Common Council (gee, what a shock) has delayed a long-term lease agreement that will transfer operations to the authority, thanks to Council member Pat Hogan. Its my understanding he also wants a living wage clause in the agreement, you can kiss those new airlines away if that happens. Lets wait and see.
On those State flood checks. I'd be curious what people as far away as Syracuse heard. Locally the news made it seem as if the state was throwing money at us and we get asked about them a lot. One douchebag running for city council even made a crack about them. He'd make it near me once, the rest would be how long it took the cops to save him.
The truth is people on welfare got a pile of money and stuff but most homeowners got little or nothing. The ones I know of that got the full 30k I'd say was legit. If you against the state helping people that need it then your gonna be against it. But most/all the ones I am aware of were older folks. All good people that owned there home but didn't have insurance. I'll give them this one personally. Its tough to get by these days and flood insurance is brutally expensive and this had never happened before so they took a risk.
I am getting by on insurance. It wasn't nearly enough but I think we were treated fairly. Flood insurance only covers a very limited ammount so it is what it is. I am fairly handy and have family and friends in the trades so I was able to make the money go a long way. I have zero complaints about the way anything was handled.
