This isn't a surprise given the dynamics of the state in terms of cost of living, population concentration and other taxes. I wonder what would happen if it split the state, as costs and revenue from taxes varies greatly? This occurs with every state to a degree, but when you have the most expensive metro/city in the country in the state along with metros/cities on par with many Southern metros in overall COL, I'm sure the variation is greater than most in NY State even in terms of just taxes.

This is a tough situation. I owned a dog that was an angel around people but absolutely vicious around certain dogs. As an owner, I didn't know why or what would trigger it. Sadly, I no longer have the dog but its not always the owners fault.

That said, I agree that people turn their backs and ignore the dogs to chat, and often what seems like playing can turn violent quick- I've personally seen it. This woman at least is sane and not trying to sue the town. Dog parks should remain open.

People also need to use common sense. This woman did nothing wrong, but if I saw an aggressive breed with a questionable owner, or a much larger dog at the park, I might not enter with my dog, especially if the dogs body language / barking is not what appears to be friendly.

I have worked at a doggie daycare and I have seen what can happen in a controlled situation with employees who understand dogs and know all of the dogs and their personalities. Knowing that the dog park has a lot of clueless owners and unknown dog histories, makes it a disaster waiting to happen.
There is also what we call pile on dogs. It is usually the ones you least expect and the minute a dog is hurt or there is a fight, it send these dogs into action. Most owners would never know how their dogs react in a high energy dog pack.

9 degrees out and I tripped over the 20 foot high mountian of snow in my "yard". I'd say that will pass for winter til the real thing gets here.

By June 19th I'd say most would call it Summer.

Is the magical fourth season called spring supposed to be like a weekend or part of a day or what??

As a frequent visitor of that dog park, I did encounter issues from time to time. Some owners are just clueless. I remember one time I was there, this lady's dog was harassing all the others - not playing, but harassing. Everyone kept telling her to control her dog, but she refused. So the rest of us (probably about 10 other people) picked up our dogs and left.

There's a dog park down the street from my house here in Philly that I have been to quite a few times. In my first visit there, I was chatting with another girl and when I told her it was my first time she immediately warned me of a guy with a German Shepherd - basically told me that if he is at the park or comes while I'm there, just leave.

For the most part, I don't have issues at dog parks. But there are always those few people/dogs that tend to ruin it for others.
