BTW we get deer in Oneida fairly often (and last year a bear). When I was on second shift I almost hit them all the time. Deer are getting to be a real problem in NY. I don't hunt any longer but if they don't learn about roads soon I may go kill afew.
lol - I can never contain my laughter when people talk down skilled hunters as they eat a big, juicy burger. Umm- where do they think meat comes from? Deer live more freely (resulting in better meat) and die more humanely - which is why the "skilled hunter" is so important - than cattle. And yes- the deer population NEEDS to be "thinned out" every year. The meat is lean. Gamey-ness can be a non-issue by soaking it in milk first and for $150, you can send off a dressed deer and have it come back in neat, standard packages of steaks, stew meat, seasoned sausages (<---THE best), roasts, etc. AND, for far, far cheaper than buying beef... especially the organic beef that is so popular now.

The deer wouldn't be an issue if they would start crossing in the areas designated that have the deer crossing signs. Gosh!

HA! Truth. lol - they should replace all the cow crossing signs with deer signs... I have NEVER come across cows in the road *anywhere* but those deer will pop out of the woods and HIT ME. :P

Be thankful you have never seen the cows crossing. We were headed towards Lafayette on Route 20 and almost hit a bunch of cows crossing the road. People fly through that area on 20 and I imagine hitting a cow at high speed could be deadly or at the very least messy.

I used to cross cows all the time. Because of stupid people moving out to the country it took 3 of us. One each to slow cars down and one to deal with the cows.

Cows are stupid animals to be sure but they are smarter then most people.

proulxfamily, We did speak with animal control - Syracuse - they were od no help. We are thinking the same thing, what do we do with it after it is trapped, no help. I didn't think of a trap that kills. Our trap was used to trap feral cats and take them to the vet. Thanks for your help.
