I am taking a position with a company in Syracuse. From what I have seen and read I am really excited about the area. I will be moving from south Texas before the end of this month.
Hi jgar477,
According to your original Post, time is growing short for you to find and rent an apartment here in the Syracuse area. You've said that you have been considering renting an apartment at one particular apartment complex. I hope that is successful for you. But just in case that plan does not work out for you, I am herein posting some other possible apartment complexes for you to consider. Each of the following listings includes: Photos, rent price, apartment information, and a phone number to contact each apt. complex.
Above is the apartments list I have for you, in addition to the 4 apartment complexes located in the southeastern Syracuse suburbs that I previously posted for you. I hope that you are able to rent the Limestone apartment you originally mentioned but in case that does NOT happen, you have the above apartment complexes to consider. The decision is entirely yours to make. Best of luck to you and your new job in Syracuse.
An absolute NO to Franklin Park... the mother of one of my childhood friends just left there because of "rowdiness." She's lived there for 18 years and can't take it anymore. Things were going down for a few years but with the first crack of a gunshot recently, she was gone. Contained, yes... it's only in Franklin Park. But I would absolutely NEVER recommend someone move there, much less a new resident. :/ Otherwise, yes- East Syracuse is a bit of a sleepy, underwhelming suburb... but safe. NOT so in Franklin Park... not enough to direct anyone there.
I think there are some apartment complexes out on the edge of Liverpool as well as a few in Clay and or Cicero that have also had some issues in the past year or two. By issues I mean problems such as violentdomestic disputes that one doesn't typically associate with suburban apartment complexes. Just shows that it's wise to visit forums such as this and do homework before choosing a place. I have a friend who went through this last year in an Atlanta suburb. Nice upscale looking complex but management rented to too many rowdy younger folks and refused to deal with noise and behavior issues reported by the older more established tenants. She got stuck there for the full term of her one year lease. Ouch.
I guess... I can imagine it's a great deal beyond interesting when you're the one living there. That poor woman is so meek- quiet office worker who lived at her mother's house with her daughter. Her mom died and they moved to quiet Franklin Park- she'd have probably lived there for the rest of her life, if it wasn't for recent incidents.
eta: It might have been 2 months ago, now that I think about it. One of my old ESM friend's parents live on Tilden and she told me about it too, at a bbq a while back. Summer heat makes time fly [in near agony. lol]
I'm just surprised that it didn't get more coverage due to how rare that occurs there.
We have a police scanner in our home office and you would be surprised how much is not covered by the media.
I noticed there is a huge memorial set up at Midland and Colvin today, but I don't remember hearing about anything recently in that area.
