The 2011 Parade of Homes will be held at the INVERNESS GARDENS Home Development just off West Taft Road between Henry Clay Blvd. & Buckley Rd., Liverpool, NY. The new construction, decorated model homes will be open for the public to tour through each home from September 9 - 25, 2011.

Several home builders will have decorated model homes to view. Home builders with model homes to tour include the following Central New York Home Builders:

Harrington Homes
JMG Custom Homes
Loscombe Custom Homes
Mark Anthony Homes
Martin Custom Homes
Miller Homes
Pigliavento Builders
Sciuga Custom Builders
Signature Crest Builders
Zellar Homes

The Parade of Homes is a great time to talk with builders representatives, view the quality of home construction, see kitchen and bathroom layouts, landscaping ideas, decorating styles, talk with realtors, and obtain other new home information.

Even if you are not in the market to build or buy a new home, the Home Parade is a great time to visit and compare several different types of completed/decorated NEW HOMES.

Probably one of the best rackets out there, isn't it? lol - "I'm going to CHARGE you for me to advertise to you." There's something wrong with businesses today...

I believe that it might be due to the special events they have at some of the homes. I guess, from what I was told by someone who has attended the Parade of Homes, that they have certain events like this: syracuse.com : Charity roundup: Parade of Homes preview is on Friday

Ahhh- but the primary charity is themselves. Charging the market for advertising. "Don't give to the charity itself. Spend $95 on a $15 meal so we can show you our product... and we'll donate a small portion to the cause." I really don't understand it.

Imagine going to a coffee shop and being charged $18 for a cup of coffee - in the name of Birthright, let's say - and instead of being shown the needs of this group and how to help, they bring you into a room to view their business of catering brunches and showers. Weird.

Insane, isn't it? And for tacky tract housing in an unappealing location, no less.

Yes. Even more insane is that people must actually spend money to *be advertised to.* ::headdesk:: Otherwise, they wouldn't keep holding these "shows."

What's next? Realtors and sellers charging a fee to show prospective buyers a home? Oh wait! That's exactly what these builders are doing.

I mean, in a way it is the same as the Downtown Living Tour. Each involves a group of people paying money to wander through a physical advertisement.

But the admission from the Downtown Living Tour is a contribution to a neighborhood 501(c)(3), while the Parade of Homes admission fees go to the realtors. And the Downtown Living Tour showcases some architecturally unique homes in a setting that is actually economically and environmentally sustainable, while the Parade of Homes is limited to houses that mimick tens of thousands all over America, each of which sits in a clear-cut former greenfield and plays along with the charade of "sustainability."

The idea of paying someone to show off any property in the hopes that you buy it is an odd one to me (unless we're talking about paying for a Sotheby's booklet), but the Parade of Homes is truly an example of what's wrong with America - full-bore conspicuous consumption without a hint of value-consciousness.

I drive past this setup every day to/from my way to work. The houses look completely unremarkable... I would much rather have a beautiful historic house any day than one of those "cookie cutter" type of places. And also, sort of in a weird location - big new neighborhood off a main road?? I've almost gotten into several accidents right in that area due to people trying to make left-hand turns from that side-street that pokes out by Wegmans (where those apartments are). Not to mention the neighboring Taft/Buckley intersection is often a disaster and probably will be even more so once that Walgreens is built. No thank you!

Did anyone here end up going to this? I drove by the other day and it looks like they still have a lot of empty lots...I was also curious as to what people thought of the homes this year.
