Ahh ok well if you are only going to be here for 10 months, Saddle Club may be ok. I knew someone that lived there previously and they never had any problems, so it is possible to be in there and be fine. I think it's just more hit or miss.

Feel free to post any rental houses you're finding on CL - we can give advice onto whether the areas are decent or not.

Good luck!

Does anyone know anything about Greenway Place in Syracuse. Is it a safe area. They have an availability, so I want to jump on it if it's safer then the Saddle Club place.

Oh, also Dewitt Highlands in Syracuse. They have an availability also, but are very expensive. Worth it?

If you mean Greenway Place Townhomes in the Hawley Green area, that's a big no. I checked those out previously and I did not feel ok there. It's rough around the edges, but they're working on it. As a family with children, I'd definitely stay away

Going with Saddle Club, no other place that takes pets has an availability, so I just want to secure our place to live since we have a little over a month now. A little nervous about it, but it's only 10 months......so cant go too wrong, I hope. Bum that I will lose my bathroom and have no storage or garage, but such is life sometimes. Hopefully we have good neighbors and the section 8 people won't leak over but I live in Army housing now....the people can't be too different. lol

Given the time you will be there, you should be fine. It isn't an area that is necessarily a serious crime regularly/every day area, but there are some lower income folks and there have been incidents here and there.

All of the houses in Saddle Club have basements, so you won't be losing any storage - Saddle Club Townhomes - Syracuse NY | Floor Plans | Dawn Homes Management

As I said before Candlelight Lane is really the main complex that has issues, but it's further back in there than Saddle Club. I agree, for 10 months you should be fine. I would love to hear an update once you are in there!

I was wondering, did you hear from Braeside Apartments in Marcellus?

Yes, saw the basements but we are coming from a 4 bedroom with a full attic of storage (and back yard of storage) so are already desperately trying to downsize to fit into the 3 bedroom. My two youngest will be sharing a room which works for now since they are only 6 and 8 but after a couple years I doubt my son will want to be that close to his lil sister!

Yep, ckh, no availability of 3 bedrooms at Breaside.

I will update as I go and can hopefully help others moving to the area once on the other side. There are actually a few other Navy guys going at the same time, and one of them I know is having a hard time as they have a big dog (I can imagine as it was hard enough for us with a small dog). So looking out for a place for them too.
