Hello,

Your question is way too broad. You need to ask about specific items. There are too many possible topics to answer all possible items of information.

The two cities are very much alike with individual differences. Metro Rochester is larger than Metro Syracuse but they both are good, decent large cities in upstate New York State; each is the Main Major city in their separate regions

We would be glad to answer any specific item questions that you might care to ask in detail.

Thanks, more job opportunities especially for college grads. Farm acreage to build a home, cheapest taxes. As you mentioned all other areas I agree are pretty close. Thanks in advance.

What kind of jobs are you looking for? I believe that the tax rates are lower in the Syracuse area and the farm acreage will depend on how much you are looking for.

How big a farm you looking for??

Lots of abandoned farms around here. One I went past last week in Wampsville is 1500$ per acre and included 2 or 3 houses and a couple barns.

Reasonably priced until it hits you that its a 600 acre farm!!!

I had the same question as "ckhthankgod". What type of jobs? Jobs is a pretty big subject. Job examples: auto mechanic, agricultural agent, medical field professional, some type of civil or electronics engineer, stock broker, tractor trailer driver, veterinarian, school teacher, airplane pilot; maybe you can give us a more detailed job description.

When you say, "farm acreage to build a home". Does that mean that you want to buy a 200-300 acre working farm with cows, pigs, & chickens? OR do you want to buy 10 to 15 acres of empty land, not being farmed, on which to build a home (? with a few extra acres to leave unused/undeveloped ?) and NOT operate a farm on the extra acreage?

The more detailed information you can give us, the better and more helpful information we can give you.

Good luck to you.

These questions are FAAAAAAR too broad. You need to narrow your scope down. People will offer suggestions, but they can't with these perimeters.

What kind of job?

How many acres?

Do you want a house on it already? Square feet? Bedrooms?

Do you want a farm or do you want a few acres to grow your own garden?

Do you want farm animals?

Farms have special zoning and all that entails.

Cheap taxes? Keep in mind that you get what you pay for in many cases. And what you consider cheap may be a fortune to someone else. Also, the more acreage, the more taxes are.

What areas are you looking for? Saying Rochester to Syracuse is a VERY broad area. Are you looking to stick close to the Thruway or down into the Finger Lakes or up north of the Thruway?

Check out realtor.com and put in what you are really looking for. You'll get to see what's out there.
