Hi, we will be driving through the area next week, and this area is about where we'll be around lunch time. Any good / great local places to eat (we don't do franchises when we travel). So anything within 20 miles either side of Syracuse area should be fine.

Sit down eating
meals if possible
Not pizza or sandwich shop if possible
Diners, Drive-ins

Dinosaur BBQ comes to mind as the usual place, but I’d say to potentially check out places like Guadalajara near Armory Square or Camino Real in North Syracuse for Mexican

Eva European Sweets on Milton Ave. just on the Solvay side of the border with Syracuse for (authentic) Polish food

The restaurants at the Salt City Market in Downtown(I personally like SOULutions, but others there get good reviews)

Oh My Darling on South Salina Street also Downtown is another one

Pastabilities and Kitty Hoynes in Armory Square are a couple of popular spots

Mother’s Cupboard on James Street near Thompson Road in the Eastwood neighborhood is a diner with big portions(bring $)

Francesca’s on North Salina Street/Delmonico’s on Erie Boulevard East and Santangelo’s in Liverpool for Italian

The Evergreen in Hanover Square in Downtown is another popular place

The Fish Friar near City Hall is another popular place

XO Taco on East Fayette Street east of Downtown is also popular(and good, imo)

The Gem Diner on Spencer Street is another good diner

Lemon Grass on Jefferson Street in Downtown is a popular Thai restaurant

New Century on Kirkpatrick Street on the North Side is a popular Vietnamese spot

Byblos on Clinton Street in Downtown is a good Middle Eastern restaurant

Las Delicias on Westcott Street east of Syracuse University is a good Dominican restaurant

Alto Cinco is a popular/good Tex-Mex restaurant also on Westcott(has the related Otro Cinco in Downtown)…I’ll stop there, but some of these places have been on Food Network shows and as you can see, there is a diverse and good food scene in the area.

Some others that come to mind are Vietnamese Noodle House and Grotto in North Syracuse; Broadway Deli in East Syracuse(I believe it is a kosher style spot), Gangnam Style Korean Kitchen in the Westcott neighborhood and Bull and Bear Pub on Route 298 in East Syracuse.

Last time we were in town we eat at Delmonico’s, so likely looking for someplace different this time around, and you provided plenty of choices - Thank you

Oh, unless this is a different one, Delmonico’s is a franchise: https://www.delmonicositaliansteakhouse.com
