I've only taken the bus once on the Adirondack Trailways from NYC. I was not at all comfortable. There was so much traffic it was the same amount of time taking the train and much more comfortable.

Through NJ, PA, and then NY with a stop in Binghamton, SU, then the train/bus station.

The train went from here to Albany and then down south to NYC with multiple stops but much more comfortable. The ride from Albany towards NYC was very scenic.
