A problem with reviews is that people are more apt to post one that is negative versus a good review.

This could be a good fit for you: Onondaga Hill Syracuse, NY Apartments for Rent | The Meadows Apartments

It is actually in Onondaga Hill, which is just SW of the city of Syracuse.

We're in a similar situation: a family of four + a 2 year old Maltese dog, moving to Syracuse (ideally Jamesville/DW/Manlius) area in August. Good schools are a must for our 12 and 14 year old kids, and we are looking to rent for a year before deciding on whether to buy.

So, can you recommend a Complex (incl. those already mentioned above) with good middle and high schools close by, that would tolerate our 6# beast.

Thanks in advance.

Actually, I would look into High Acres as well, as it is in the very good Westhill SD. I know people go with or just think of the standard Jamesville-DeWitt or Fayetteville-Manlius search, but there aren't really any bad suburban school districts in the area. Westhill, Skaneateles, Marcellus and Cazenovia are always up there in terms of school rankings for the area. All 4 are smaller school districts that have about 2000 students in the district, give or take.

This apartment complex in Marcellus is another one that may work: Braeside | Dawn Homes Management Marcellus has a small town feel with a small, quaint village surrounded by a hilly rural setting. Camillus is the closest town with shopping at the Township 5 lifestyle center and along West Genesee Street. Township 5 – Eat, Shop, Live, Play, Work Township 5 is an open-air lifestyle center that includes convenient shopping, unique dining options, medical offices and a boutique apartment community that will open in April 2016.

Speaking for Camillus, this could be worth a look: Kings Gate West - Camillus, NY | Apartment Finder Camillus is served by the West Genesee SD.

This complex in the Radisson Planned Community in the Baldwinsville SD is another one that may fit for you: http://www.drumlin-heights.com/

Baldwinsville is a bigger suburban SD to the NW of Syracuse and there is plenty of big box shopping nearby down Route 31 in Clay.

ckhthankgod, you rock.

Thanks a million. We will comb through these and eventually decide.

Here is the thing - we have not decided yet where to move (we are from SE Europe, DV Lottery winners). My brother & his family are in Jamesville, and it would be much easier for us to just move somewhere close and hit the ground running, as they could help us initially (not financially, but with some good advice to help us avoid their mistakes).

However, we are also evaluating Charlotte, where we would lose this advantage, but the climate is better, and (arguably?), job market as well (I am in marketing, and my wife is an accountant).

Thanks! In that case, the Lafayette and East Syracuse complexes are the closest to your brother and his family. High Acres wouldn't be too far away either, as it is just a drive down Seneca Turnpike across the Valley neighborhood of Syracuse to Jamesville. So, out of the ones listed so far, those 3 are the closest.

Out of the 3, I would go with High Acres due to the schools, in comparison and is still close enough to shopping.

As for jobs, I think the misses could have a good chance of landing one and I'd say to look at the colleges/universities in terms of say Disbursements/Development departments or financial companies/banks in the area.

As for you, perhaps some company like this may work: https://www.mower.com/ Some others: Pinckney Hugo Group | A full-service advertising agency in Syracuse, NY , Digital Marketing Agency New York | SEO Company Syracuse | Online Marketing , https://www.abcideabased.com/ , Cowley | Syracuse Web Design & Full Service Ad Agency

Hope this helps......
