Hey everyone, I'm looking to take a full day scenic drive through or around the Adirondacks and hoping someone could suggest some byways and/or routes.

I love the mountains and have lived in Syracuse for two years now but haven't been up to the Adirondacks yet. Hoping to take in some beautiful views, get some pictures, good food with a pint or two, etc. I love adorable, quaint towns and villages over tourist traps but I also realize that I haven't been to the Adirondacks yet and sometimes you just need to see the tourist traps to say that you've been there.

I'll have to work Saturday or Sunday this weekend so it won't be an overnight trip. That said, I can always note stuff to do for additional trips.

Anyway: I'm looking for an "all day" drive that will have beautiful scenery, quaint villages, and a good pub or two along the way for solid beer tastings.

Suggestions?

I would possibly start off with a trip to Old Forge via Route 49 east, Route 12 north and veer to Route 28 north. Perhaps continue onto Route 28 to Blue Mountain Lake. In Old forge, you can check out the Old Forge Hardware store or some of the restaurants in the community. Old Forge Businesses

Hopefully, someone else will have another suggestion for you to possibly consider.
