It just frustrates me. The planning board will most likely approve it because of their stance of any development is better then good development. They can be very spineless/in the pocket of their developer friends. I just think of all the crappy additions already stuck on buildings downtown now, like 444 East Genesee or these buildings.
I think you might be right, unfortunately and you would think that they would learn from past additions that didn't fit.
Local investors plan $4.8 million rehab of Addis Building
The long vacant and rapidly deteriorating Addis Co. Building on the 400 block of South Salina Street could see a new lease on life. Once home to an iconic downtown department store, the Addis Building has gone through a succession of slumlord owners who have failed to maintain the property and pay real estate taxes. According to the agenda of Tuesday's Greater Syracuse Land Bank Meeting, a group of local developers submitted a plan to purchase the building from the Land Bank and spend nearly $5 million on renovations and environmental remediation. The upper floors of the historic building would be converted into apartments.
