Be very careful with the ipad, if it's screen is anything like the iphone's screen (which I assume it is since it is the same company) they break VERY easily. I had an iphone a few years ago, dropped it once and the screen cracked, same thing happened to my mother's iphone as well. The "simple" answer might be "don't drop it" but with things expensive like this you wanna be careful not to damage them, especially if you don't have a warranty. Also I wouldn't personally recommend an ipad at all, but since you've already bought it then it seems as though it would be too late now to recommend something else. If your wife is happy with it though that's all that matters, good luck.
Anything that is skinny and 10 inches big with a glass front on it is going to break pretty easily if you drop it.
Don't drop it. It's really not that hard. I am exceptionally aware of my Tablets when I carry them around and have never dropped one.
She bought a cover for it right away. She is using the IPAD for almost everything she used her laptop for. She is loving it! I am beginning to see many advantages over a laptop if you are not doing anything fancy.
Absolutely look into your library first. How does FREE sound?
Unless you live in a really rural area, your library probably does e-lending.
Of course, you can buy books through iTunes, as well.
