So has anyone here heard of this:

www.remarkable.com

I am very interested in this, and will probably purchase one. I was just wondering if anyone here already owned one, or has seen one in the "wild", so to speak. It was created by a Norwegian start-up, so you cant just go to Best Buy and test one out.

Thoughts?

It looks like very interesting technology, but it's a one-dimensional piece of technology for $828 USD. You can buy a full-fledged tablet with a digitizer for a price in that same ballpark.

One problem with the full-fledged tablets is Im tired of looking at LCD screens all day. I own a Surface 3, which I do love, but I am still intrigued by the remarkable.

But yes, that price is really high right now. I hope it comes down some.

“No tablet has less functionality than the reMarkable. We designed reMarkable to not get in your brain's way. Get in the zone and stay there.”

By Norwegian hipsters, for hipsters.

That's the kind of device I wouldn't drop a grand on to try,
but if reMarkable wants to send me a demo device to use for a month, I promise I would write a series of blog posts about my experience and give it an honest shake.

If I had money to spend on "neato gadgets" I'd definitely put this on the list. It'd primarily be a reader, because I'm a voracious reader. But I like to doodle too, so it'd be handy when I'm at work and bored. At $800 it's way over my pay scale but if I were wealthy it'd make a pefect timewaster/distraction beween errends or when waiting in line for something.

"The paper tablet for people who prefer paper."

Well, heck, if you prefer to write on paper and read from paper, why don't you just get yourself a couple Big Chiefs, a handful of pencils, and a library card, and declare victory?

that was a thing, like 10 years ago called "The Hipster PDA"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hipster_PDA

you can argue a PDA / palm pilot / Dayrunner is a different beast than an Internet-aware tablet, but it is an interesting backlash to ever-increasing expen$ive technology to do the most mundane tasks.
