Gainesville's Metro was 260,690 as of 2009. Tallahassee's Metro was 360,013. Don't try to make Gainesville metro smaller than it is and don't try to bolster Tallahassee's figures. FAIL!

I've lived in both. I grew up in Tally; I lived in Gainesville for a few years as an adult. Even though I've become a Gator by marriage, I'd pick Tally. Although I like the family atmosphere on the northside of town , there are plenty of yuppie neighborhoods that aren't 'conservative'. The area now referred to as 'midtown' is reinventing itself to served just that crowd. Tallahassee is bigger and has more to offer. Tally is also more spread out, which I prefer. I didn't care for how concentrated Gainesville was. They both have college football spirit that is little matched elsewhere, but Gainesville does win in that dept. I remember walking around the Michigan campus the evening before a game w/ Michigan State and the area around the so called big house was dead. That is laughable for someone who has lived in Gainesville.

Default Agree

I agree with your message. Gainesville has the better overall "college feel", but TLH has diversity in its neighborhoods. The midtown area and a few other parts have a different vibe than suburbia and have done a good job of "reinventing" themselves if that is the appropriate term.

No, you are a FAIL. Clearly you made bad grades in english class if you can't see where I said "NEAR" in the population part. The "City" of Gainesville does not have 116,000 it's 114,000. I find it funny how you are twisting my words, into something else.

You also said the Gainesville Metro was near 200K. Are we rounding down now?

I can't twist what's already twisted. I also find it interesting how you didn't refute anything else I said except for indicating that I was 2,000 off the population of Gainesville and you manged to get that wrong, STILL!

For the record, I've made straight A's from the 7th grade through grad school but that was easy: Retain, regurgitate.

Haha, no I do not, actually. I just know Florida like the back of my hand, i've studied Florida all of my life, and have been places and experienced cities. I know Florida, and Gainesville is no where near coming close to what Tallahassee has to offer.

Nothing was twisted. Everything I said was rounding. Did you fail math as well?

Is 260K closer to 300K or 200K? Clearly you need an elementary math refresher on rounding. Tallahassee and Gainesville offer roughly the same things (which isn't much) so who cares.

I care, seeing that Tallahassee offers more. Way more at that. You act like you've seen 100% of Gainesville and 5% of Tallahassee. Maybe visit here sometime and do some comparing yourself.

I don't have to visit since I lived in Tallahassee from 1994-1999 (undergrad) and returned in 2003 to attain my Masters degree and my Ph.D. Soooooo.... I've seen a lot more of Tallahassee than you think and spent considerable time in Gainesville as well which is why I made the comparison. The only advantage Tallahassee has over Gainesville (and every other municipality in the state) is that it's the seat for state government.
