Sakura, IMHO.

Osaka a close second.

Kitcho used to be good, but I think the quality has slipped in recent years.

Jasmine (downtown) is OK for n00bs, but nothing special.

There are lots of other smaller places, but I haven't found any of them to be very good.

Thank you for posting this. I've been meaning to try Osaka for a while as I pass by it every day heading east on R.D. around 4 on my way home from work. I'm never close enough to see the hours and by the time I get home, I've usually forgotten all about it.

It's pretty good. I still think Sakura (7th avenue and Monroe) has somewhat better quality. They seem more focused on sushi and less on hibachi.

I try to stick with sushi places that have actual Japanese people working the bar. I took a Japanese friend into Osaka and Sakura and she pronounced both of them acceptable to her very high standards - but then again, she ordered in Japanese and got first class treatment LOL.

It helps to sit at the bar and talk to the chef. Often you will get little extra snacks for your effort, asking them what's good today, etc.

I was stupid enough to get sushi from Lucy Ho's once (Chinese). Never again! It came warm, the rice was all wrong, and it actually had fish scales stuck to it.

I don't know, Jasmine's always held a special place for me. My fiancee still misses their Seminole Rolls and talks about them and she hasn't lived in Tallahassee for a few years. Always good stuff
