He can certainly apply for such a job, but he'll have to report the conviction on his application. I'd say the chances of his getting an interview are slim to none.

State applications require disclosure of prior convictions above third degree misdemeanor. Normally when a supervisor recommends a candidate for hire the personnel office completes a security review to double check. A conviction in itself would not disqualify a candidate (except maybe for a few jobs) but in today's market there are hundreds of candidates and the hiring supervisor is forced to mass sort applications. In that environment someone with legal trouble on his or her record tends to fall out, if the supervisor goes ahead with a recommendation it can be vetoed higher up, if someone tries to hide it they get caught Sorry for the bad news, I personally feel we all make mistakes and deserve second chances when earned.

True. But in this high unemployment environment, what are the odds? He would have to have a stellar resume, offering something that no one has.

Of course he can apply. I can't say what his chances of being hired will be or even if his application accepted once it's submitted.

If your ex brother-in-law needs any inspiration, refer to the office of the Governor and check out Rick Scott's story.

At Revenue?

I sure hope not. We just had a scandal about almost same issue out at Innovation Park.

I would not recommend that be hired, nor would I hire him. Not worth the risk and potential blowback, even if he never sinned again.

At the Department of Revenue.

With a fraud conviction.

0% chance of getting hired.

He can apply all he wants, but I doubt they'd hire him . In fact, I doubt anywhere he applies that he may have access to money would hire him.
