Tallahassee lags the economy in general, especially compared to south FL. The economy also isn't prone to quick booms or busts - therefore, it will likely take longer to get out of the housing mess in TLH than in Miami, for example (in addition ot the fact that there aren't any foreign buyers purchasing properties, which is the case in south FL). This is of course good news for a new buyer in TLH.

Stay away from Rickards. It has an IB program, I believe, but it is considered the worst high school in town apart from that, along with perhaps another school.

Thank everyone for your input so far.

I'm still waiting for confirmation on the transfer my research continues. I'm trying to narrow down which high school to go with. Chiles, Leon or Lincoln. Then we would rent in that schools district. I've been searching the web for off and on for a while. Those 3 schools seem to be on the same level. I did review the PDF provided that had the grades for the last few years.

Could any that's had experience with any of hem recently chime in. Or send me a pm.

Default Best schools

I agree the best are Chiles for high school, Deer Lake or Montford for middle school, and the only elementary school I have experience with is Gilchrist. All were excellent. I strongly recommend staying in the northeast section. Killearn Lakes is an excellent neighborhood. Southwood is overpriced. I don't know why there seem to be a lot of homes for sale. I do know in my field of work a lot of people that get recruited to come here leave within 3-4 years.
