Hello everyone,

I've done enough stalking around on the forum for a little while now to try and gather as much info as possible on Tallahassee, but it can be hard to figured out all the info I'm looking for since many responses are tailored to the person asking the question - so I decided to just ask!

Basically, to give you my summary - I'm 26, from Maryland, lived in Baltimore for the last 3yrs, into warm weather & outdoorsy activities, I recently got accepted into a doctoral program at FSU, & I'm looking for the run-down on Tallahassee...

Is the town "bike friendly"?

Is Tally "dog friendly"? I visit my brother who lives in Austin, TX quite a bit and I enjoy the amount of parks & the fact that dogs are even allowed in the patios of a lot of places to eat/drink...

Where would be the best spot to live? I'd like easy access to the college, but not necessarily around 18 yr olds - maybe a spot where the other doctoral, law, & med students live..? (hopefully this prospective neighborhood has the option of a house w/ a yard, but I'm not totally opposed to an apartment) further, whats a reasonable rent price to expect? (a bargain price vs. a rip-off price) would be nice to know the difference in the search...If you could even list street names of where to look, that would be great because most of the stuff on Craigslist just list a ST & I am unfamiliar...

Whats the culture like in Tallahassee?

Whats the music scene like? (music, access to shows, playing, local music - is important to me)

Any nice bars where the median age might be geared for young professionals as opposed to fratty bros?

Is Tally "hip" at all?

Entertainment? Food?

Is it an active town?

Quality of life good?

I would love to know all of this info & maybe anything additional you feel that I should know! Thanks in advance for your responses, I understand that I asked a lot of questions so it's appreciated!

Default Tally bound

Hi! I'm moving to Tallahassee this August for a graduate program. Are you in town yet? Did you find some answers to your questions? I am curious pretty much about the same things. I'll be heading in from San Antonio, TX..which has a signifiant arts scene--which I am really into.
