Hubby and I lived in Tallahassee in the mid 90's, then moved to Madison, FL for 10 years.
We moved to IL 6 years ago, and want to move back to FL.
We were down there last week, and found a great property in rural Monticello that we put an offer in on.
We're kind of familiar with the Monticello area, but I'd really like to talk to a 'local', if there happens to be someone lurking around on this forum
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply TD.
Not sure what I'm looking for, I was just hoping to find someone who lives in the Monticello area that could give me some "insiders tips" on the town.
Does your dad just have investment property over there?

No he lives about 2 miles outside of town. he really likes Tupelos bakery and there is a good Mexican place downtown. there is also a good pizza place downtown. The Monticello opera house hosts events and is a nice venue.

Outside if that there is a grocery store and a dog racing track there.

It's a very small town but the nice thing about it is you can have a peaceful country small town life and drive 20 minutes in to Tallahassee for all of your city needs.

And they are building a new Tractor Supply there!
Yes, it seems like an pretty ideal situation. We can get most of the 'basics' there in Monticello, but it's an easy drive into Tallahassee for work and play.
How long has your dad lived there?
We will be 3-5 miles out of town on 10 beautiful wooded acres with a pond.
Thanks for your replies.

Hes been there for 2 years.. he has like 10 acres as well..

I forgot to add they do have a Winn Dixie, so you can get all of your groceries in monticello if you choose, but the closest publix is at I-10/Mahan.
