I've been to both fairly often, I cannot STAND going to Gainesville on a weekend. Even when just visiting, I make sure to fill up in Lake City so that I don't have to stop and get involved in the craziness that is Gainesville on a weekend night. I almost got hit head on trying to get back onto I-75 back in October when I was passing through. I assume the driver was a drunk college student.

Anyways, Tallahassee is a little bigger and has a little more diverse business climate, especially being the state capitol. Tallahassee is also a pretty short drive to some of the worlds nicest beaches and is closer to New Orleans

I've also lived in both Tallahassee and Gainesville. I didn't care for either of them, but if I had to choose I'd go with Tallahassee. There seems to be more going on and there's a little more diversity (not just college students). I personally don't understand how UF is considered one of the top party schools in the country; I was bored to tears in Gainesville.

Mike, I think you cant go wrong with either city. Both are great.

I personally think Tallahassee offers a bit more with its nice rolling hill landscape, and its more urban feel.

I apreciate the info and I was originally leaning to Gainesville, but after some research and careful consideration, I think Tallahassee is going to be my choice.
