Renting (Tampa, Orlando, Plantation: apartments, condo, townhomes)

Was in Tally last Friday and was suprised and almost shocked at the cost of renting. It is more there than Orlando or Tampa. At least the same but probably a bit higher. Midtown was pretty much booked. Southwood was nice but very expensive. Some places north of Mahan were more expensive than I they should be and the Killearn area was a little less expensive but traffic seemed to be worse. Still looking but I have to make a decision this week. I went to these places:

The Plantations @ Pine Lake (Killearn).......OK.
The Plantations @ Killearn ....................Didn't like
Londontown (Midtown)...........................Booked
Ashford Club (Midtown...........................Booked
Delaney Park (Southwood)......................Nice but very expensive
Vernadas @ Southwood..........................Expensive
The Evergreens @ Mahan........................Best Special, still overpriced
Eagles Landing off Captial Circle................Booked

Area near my office around Myers Park and the Capital City Country Club had some sketchy areas so I did not like the area. Loved Midtown and North of Midtown but not west but everything was booked. Liked Killearn area. Probably my best bet. Wish there was more to choose from. Still ckecking craigslist everyday as I prefer to live in a townhome, condo or house. Looking to pay no more than 20% of my monthly salary which means approximately $1120/month max.

Any suggestions?

try seville apartments. great location in midtown.. Walking distance to Lake Ella.

Also try Rolling hills apartments on john knox.

Jackson Square apartments also.

In addition to Craigslist, you might call some property management companies to see what vacancies they have for houses or townhomes.

Evergreen on Mahan is nice but just be aware there's a RR track very close to the property -- could be noisy when the freight trains roll thru and blast their horns.
