I graduated from FSU earlier this year, moved home, and recently got a job in Tallahassee. I'm looking at apartments and stuff. But was just wondering if there is any info y'all have on the city that I wouldn't have picked up on as a student?

Thanks! Can't wait to be back!

Well. There is a lot more than the 2 mile ring around campus that most students see. question is... What are you looking for info on

I guess anything about the overall city not including the college. I'm really familiar with that whole area, but I guess I was just wondering what it's like to live there as an adult not in school?

I loved it while I was in school! I guess I was just wondering what the working population of Tallahassee thinks generally about living there.

I also went to FSU, moved back to my hometown after graduating, and then back to Tallahassee after a couple of years.

I think it's great. It's very family friendly. Great neighborhoods, parks, churches, etc. I never lived there as a post-grad single though, I was already married with a child when we moved back. I can't really say what it's like for a single non-student.

We moved to Alabama and that's where we live now, but if I had to move back to Florida and had my choice of location, Tallahassee would be right at the top.

I have heard that Tallahassee is good for (a) students, (b) families with children, (c) retired people. I can personally attest to the truth of (c).

Years ago, when I was working with some young single professional people, they often complained about the lack of social opportunities for people in their demographic. It may still be true today, I don't know, but it seems to me that a lot of new bars and restaurants have opened up, particularly around Midtown.

Still, I suspect that a young single person working in Tallahassee may have to make a bit of an effort to socialize and make new friends. If you get involved in a church or synagogue it's probably easier.

Thanks everyone!

I still have a handful of friends in Tallahassee, but it seems like they're always wanting to leave (maybe because they grew up there?) but at least I'll be able to socialize and branch out. I'm excited to experience Tallahassee as a "working adult" instead of a student.

Its probably because they grew up here. I grew up here and want to leave just for a change. I might be back, as i often hear stories of people leaving and then coming back later.
