Since nobody has replied yet, I would say probably a mixture of both. Tally isnt a hot spot for Northerners like Palm Bch and Broward Counties, Tampa, Sarsota, Orlando, Naples, and Clearwater. But, I wouldnt suggest that there arent some folks from other places. I think of Tally being more like Alabama or Southern Ga, then when I think of many parts of FL, and I'm sure they like it that way.

Definitely a LOT more "lifelong Tallahassee-ers" in the area vs. South Florida (as is true throughout the panhandle), BUT, since Tallahassee is a college town, there's a lot of people who find jobs in Tallahassee after graduation. Also, for at least 2 months out of the year, there's LOTS of people from other parts of the state!

Are the "lifers" welcoming and open to transplants?

Sure. But as with any place, just don't come down with that, "this isn't how we do it in NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY/PENNSYLVANIA, etc. etc." attitude and you'll be fine!

Probably, as long as you dont try and change things or talk about how things are done better in NY. Dont drive aggressively, honk at people when on the roads, etc... all the stuff that some folks like to do, and you should be alright. That is a big thing that Floridians have to deal with and do not like. Just being honest.

Hey..I am from NY myself and I HATE that too. Although I complain about food sometimes, it really annoyed me when I worked at the doctor's office and the huffy patient would say "Well up north, we didn't have to wait as long", etc. etc....(I'm thinking to myself...well we're busy because of the influx of seasonal residents, like YOU!)

As for the driving...No comment! Let's just say I am always glad to make it home alive.

Huh? Where do you live that you say that? Are you refering to NY or Sarasota?

FL, but that can apply to anywhere.

Well, I've lived up north too in big cities & I'll tell you one thing, the stretch of I-95 in FL is the most INSANE I've ever seen. You basically get pushed forward nomatter what lane you're in & nomatter how fast you go. It doesn't matter. Its crazy.
