Hi all,
I'll be moving down to Tallahassee this late summer/fall to transfer to FSU. Since I won't be living on campus, I'm hoping to get input from anyone who knows the area on where to go, what to avoid, best places to rent, etc. I'm a twenty-year-old female and this would be my first time living on my own (aside from a dorm at my last college). Ideally I'd like to be somewhere that's fairly inexpensive to split rent/utilities with a roommate but isn't a "college kid" complex. In short, I would love to be able to study or have a quiet night in without hearing parties all night every night. I would also love to live in an area that won't make my mom cry with worry if she comes to visit. I have a car so I wouldn't have to worry about walking around at night and that sort of thing, but again, I'm a young female and would like to feel safe wherever I am.
Of course I'd love somewhere beautiful with all the amenities of a nice complex like pools and hot tubs and fitness centers near all the restaurants and store...but I realize that beggars can't be choosers. Most important to me is safety (first) and price.
Any input, from a great complex, to a bad area to just cross off my list entirely, would be awesome. Thanks

Check out Midtown. Look at complexes on meridian and thomasville roads.

amela333,
I used to live in a great place that I would certainly recommend to you for this exact purpose, it's a hidden treasure called Summer Chase Condominium Community. It's located at 4434 Gearhart Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303. Each condo is owned by an individual owner, but you can usually find one for rent on craigslist.org. It's got college people, but they're mainly grad students and small families. It's quiet and safe - no riff-raff. And it has a pool, hot tub, gym and clubhouse! They take care of the lawn and pest control for you and the rates are usually around $900 or so. Find a roommate and get one as soon as you can! If you can't find one, I know an owner. Keep in touch if you don't find one for rent, I'll contact the owner that I know to see if his is vacant for you. My direct email is covington.cynthia@gmail.com. Hope this helps,
Cynthia
