I got a ticket for driving with a license that's been expired for less than 6 months. I went to the license branch to renew and learned that I can't because of a previous issue in another state 15 years ago that finally caught up with me. So now I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to clear my record and renew my license which is going to take some time. In the interim, I still need to get around. So my question is, what happens if I get pulled over with the expired license again before I can get everything done to renew? Would I just get another ticket or would it be something worse? Does it make a difference if I've already paid the first ticket? I have 30 days to pay. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Expect to be handcuffed and jailed if you get caught driving again without a valid, unexpired license.

That also cancels your registration and thus your insurance, meaning you will be lucky if your car isn't towed and impounded with growing storage fees.
No insurance? Turn in your tags. No tags? Get towed away. You can't remain an outlaw forever.

Whatever caught up with you from your past in another state isn't going away. Get a bus schedule.

I actually live in Panama City and there's very limited bus service here. Also, I'm not trying to be an outlaw. I'm getting everything taken care of and will be legal again within the 30 days given to pay the ticket. I'm just trying to understand my risk should I choose to drive to work. I appreciate your response but please try to stick to the question instead of judgement. By the way, why are you so confident in your assertion? Do you know someone who was arrested for this or are you a police officer or some other profession that would have knowledge of this?
