...and it's about 50% bigger than...(do I dare say it?) Gainesville. Looking at the ACC, it's also bigger than the in the middle of the pack in front of these other ACC towns: Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Blacksburg, Charlottesville, Syracuse, South Bend, and Newton (sorry BC isn't in Boston lol).

People go to Florida for the land. If they were to start increasing the size of cities; Florida would lose it's quality of life . In fact many people flock to Florida as a vacation spot as well. Both Adult and family types. Do you want to lose that peace of mind?

This is so true. I've heard the joke by locals that if it weren't for the capital and FSU Tallahassee would just be a small panhandle town like Quincy (LOL) or Blountstown.
I think the industry is limited to mostly state workers. The pay is not very high for full time state employees. They do have good benefits, but the pay scale pales in comparison to Fortune 500 companies. Phoenix, Austin, and Atlanta have a plethora of large industrial entities to max out growth.
People who seem to really appreciate Tallahassee are (1) undergraduates between 18-22 and (2) local people with family/community foundations in the area. They don't mind the small size in comparison to places like Austin, Atlanta, Orlando, etc.
I got tired of it. I just moved back to Phoenix and love it here. It's the best for me.
