I live in an apartment through STU. I want to break my lease because my roommates refuse to throw out their trash. Currently there are several very large full bags of trash on the back porch and there are two inside of the house in the common area. As you can imagine there are many gnats and flies inside of the home. It's so bad that I cannot make coffee without a gnat in it. I've contacted both the corporate management and my local property manager about the issue. After 7 days they got back to me saying they would fine my roommate who was leaving the trash. She still has not removed the trash. In my apartment I was never given several amenities that were promised in my lease. Also several kitchen cabinets are broken or filled with mold. & the steps are broken on the back porch. If these things were fixed and my roommates took out their trash I still wouldn't want to live here. I've read 83.60 and all of 83.5. Can I break my lease because of the gnats and trash? If so, how? What is the best way to go about legally breaking my lease?
