We are very likely relocating to the Tallahassee area due to my fiance's job. He will be working at the airport, so we are seriously considering renting/eventually buying in Southwood. What are the good, bad, ugly of the area? Any idea if there are plans to build more dining, shopping, entertainment in the area?

How are the house resale values? Are they holding steady, going up? How long do the houses/townhouses usually sit on the market.

Thanks!

The real estate market is hot in Tallahassee right now. Lots of growth is occurring in the city, and with the new VA outpatient center opening up nearby southwood, more service will surely follow.

Love Southwood. Most convenient to the airport, and traffic is not near as bad as in the other better neighborhood of Killearn and the NE area. The walking trails are wonderful, and there are sufficient amenities and conveniences. I have no info on development plans, but really it takes little time to get anywhere you need to go. As the other person noted, real estate is hot. Rentals are reasonable. Town homes take a little longer to sell, but location can override that. I like the blend of a park feel and city convenience. Great area for kids as well. You may want to think about schools. Right now, u less you want to do private schools, the better city schools are in the NE, and that drives home values. In my opinion.

We went from a south wood type neighborhood so knew the pros and cons and still looked in south wood. We ended up gated in the ne with schools being the motivated factor.

If the job was at the airport I would have picked Southwood hands down
