I am interviewing for a job in Tallahassee on Friday that I kind of already been given the heads up is mine if I take it. I currently live in St. Pete and now wonder if I should take it. The pay is pretty good, $55K per year but I feel like this is going to be night and day. Has anybody ever made this move and if so what were your impressions once you got to Tallahassee.

I made the opposite move. Tallahassee to Tampa bay. 2 totally different creatures. Each are wonderful and beautiful in its own right. Tally is much slower, more like the South than st Pete in attitude. There are more activities center around the outdoors ( and college football) minus the beach. Not as touristy a lot less snowbirds. Traffic is 1000 times better. It can get cold on the winter and has had dustings of snow at times. One of the main differences is that there is Tallahassee. Period. There are other smaller towns surrounding it but they are mainly rural except for Thomasville Georgia, which is also rural but has a nice small downtown. You have to go hours to hit another big city (except Thomasville) so the cultural pickings are slim. There are a lot of things todo if u search for it. Kids complain of the boredom of the area. Being the state capital and having all the schools means that there is quite a bit of diversity and not all" good old boy" but there is some of that. On $55 a year u can probably find adecent home Ina nice area. Within the city limits the commute is usually 30 minutes or less. It was a great area for my kids to grow up in. Hope this helps.

I am right behind you.. Does anyone know of any short term furnished condo/apt/house. Would prefer to be away from the universities or the student areas.
