Lakeland-based supermarket Publix will be opening its fourth Publix GreenWise Market location at the southwest corner of West Gaines Street and Railroad Avenue in the city of Tallahassee in Leon County, Florida, in late 2018. Publix GreenWise Market is Publix's specialty organic grocery banner that competes against Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Earth Fare.

I wonder if the new Publix GreenWise Market store will locate south of Sunoco, 601 West Gaines Street, Tallahasse, Florida 32304-4307, along Railroad Avenue.

I remember that area. I went to a movie there with my FSU girlfriend and some mini concerts across the street (if that is the area I think you are talking about). It's also not too far from the FSU Basketball Gym.
I know that whole street was remodeled to make it more pedestrian friendly. There was a huge blank parking area just north of that railroad and movie place as I recall. I think the Nole students and FAMU students would love it - a Publix sub for lunch. State workers are also very close by Monroe and Gaines.

The one area that could use a Publix is route 20 west of Tallahassee. Blountstown would be a good location (in my opinion).

I am gone now though in Scottsdale, AZ. I am perfectly content with the local "Fry's" - Arizona's version of "Publix".

West Gaines Street was narrowed from four to two lanes with a landscaped median and bike lanes several years ago.

Fry's is a division of Kroger, who has a minimal presence in Florida with one Harris Teeter supermarket and the Tom Thumb convenience stores.

We have a Greenwise here in Tampa. It's only about a mile from me, but I don't go there very often. It has a big deli and prepared food section, a bakery, a big cheese section, and groceries. Prices are pretty high, so they have to have a pretty good sale for me to go there. There is a regular Publix about a mile from me in the other direction, along with Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market, and Whole foods inside of a circle about 1.5 miles in radius from me. If you want health foods, this is the area to live!
