Depending on where you are moving from in Georgia, you might not notice much difference. I live on the north side of town and am only 10 miles from the border. Tallahassee looks much more like Georgia than Florida.

Crime is a problem only in certain areas of the city. Ditto schools. Tallahassee has some excellent public schools but you will probably need to be on the north or east side of town. Stay away from neighorhoods on the south side and the west side near campus, and it's a lovely place to live and raise children.

I agree with Strel.... stay on the East side of town (NE) or SE, Southwood, Killearn, or the central neighborhoods like Betton Woods.

Southwest Tallahassee is rough. The area around campus is crazy college environment.
