My fiance is beginning graduate school at FSU in August, we're getting married in December, and I'll be joining him in Tallahassee then. (I'm finishing up my master's at UF now!) We're considering living at Alumni Village to save money, but have also been looking at other apartments in the area. We're looking for a 2 BR apartment, town house, whatever. I've heard mixed reviews of Alumni Village, but have never actually been inside a unit. Does anyone know anything about it? Actually live there? Or any suggestions for affordable housing in Tally? We'd rather not live in apartment complexes overrun by undergrad students...Been there, done that...

We're thinking about 750-800/month tops. I'll be teaching (if I can get a job in January) and he'll be in grad school and working part time...

I would look towards the Eastern part of the city to get away from the college atmosphere. Anything near campus will be cheaper, but LOTS of party atmosphere.

Gosh, I remember looking at so many places in Tallahassee in a variety of price ranges when I went to grad school I can't even remember them all...

Banyan Bay is one that I remember had good prices, but one of the occupants had to be a non-student, and there was an income cap.

If you do a search on apartments.com or something and need info on a specific area/complex, many people here have knowledge and can tell you if it's something worth looking into.
