I will be heading to FSU for graduate school next fall, and I want to get a jump on looking for places to live since thus far it seems like the pickings for housing are pretty slim. Obviously I am not interested in any apartments that are party-centric, or close to the stadium ( I am too old for all of that!) any information on good apartments to look at for a graduate student would be great help, something in a nicer safe neighborhood.

Thanks in advance!

Default Killearn area

My standard reply for people who want to live where the students aren't is to look in the northeast/Killearn area. There are a few apartment complexes on that side of town -- it's also probably the safest part of town.

Check out Verandas at Blairstone. I lived there a year during grad school. Enjoyed it. Not a party place.

North and east, as others have said. As in north of Apalachee Parkway and east of Monroe. The farther north and east the better, though there are some nice places around midtown.

Also consider looking into a duplex or townhouse if you can swing it. They are all over the place in Tallahassee and often much nicer than the apartments.

Also look around Thomasville Road north of Interstate 10. Nice, new area and there are quite a few very nice apartment complexes under construction there now.

It would be a bit of a commute 8 or 9 miles to campus. You would have to join the lemming race with the rest of us.

thank you for all these suggestions. of all the places i have applied to for graduate school, finding housing in tallahassee seems the most intimidating, it is super hard to find anything that great online, so if anyone else has great suggestions for me to take into account, please let me know!!

thanks again.
