it is an option i would rather not explore. Since I don't know anyone else who is attending school at FSU currently, I am wary of random roommates and would much prefer to live on my own!

Alumni Village is a ****hole. At least it was last time I visited the place.

There are better affordable places to live in Tallahassee, including plenty of single-bedroom units near and around the Civic Center/downtown.

Try looking near the law school and Civic Center. I lived in Collegewood on Jefferson Street for a year, and while it wasn't the Ritz, it was affordable and fairly clean.

I've been living in AV for about 7 months. I really like it. It's international. It's by no means luxury by American standards, but after having lived abroad for several years, it suits me just fine. I like the fact that you can clean the place without having to own a vaccuum cleaner, you don't have a lease, most of the residents are poor students like me, you can hang your laundry to dry outside without fear of it being stolen, you see families walking around at night, and you hear many different languages. The surrounding neighborhoods are not safe, but inside AV, it's safe, and there's even a small police station to watch out for the residents.

The downside is that there's not good insolation and it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I live in a townhouse and share the expenses with a roommate. All my expenses are under $350.

If you're interested in getting a roommate, I'm looking for a female roommate for the 2010-2011 school year. I'm a clean, mature grad student who's here first to study, and when the papers ease up a bit, to have some fun. Let me know if you'd like to see what AV looks like and I'll show you around when you come for open house.

Cheers!
