Looking for caterer for informal wedding reception on a Saturday evening in September. Don't want a sit-down dinner, prefer people to mingle, thinking of either buffet or heavy hor'ds. Budget of $3500 maximum which must include the standard 18-25% service fee. Is this do-able? After not even hearing back from a couple vendors and getting quotes much higher than our budget allows from others, I'm considering Costco. Has anyone had experience w/ the Tallahassee Costco catering? Can they do heavy hor'ds or hot appetizers that can be served as dinner food? Any other suggestions most welcome! Thanks in advance.

I didn't know Costco has a catering department. I was just at Costco recently and thought about a friend that wants to have a small cheap wedding. I thought wow she could get plenty of things from Costco for an inexpensive wedding. They have plenty of snack type foods, all the supplies and the alcohol. I would look into it. Make sure though that you hire or have someone to set everything up.

Would BBQ be too informal? This place is great!

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions. We found a caterer but I think I'll also go with Costco to supplement. Doggiebus, I'm not sure if the Tally Costco has a catering service, but bigger city Costcos do. I'm definitely purchasing all alcohol from Costco.

P.S. The Tally Costco might only do cold apps. I know they definitely have shrimp, cheese, fruit, and sandwich platters for large groups but beyond that, I'm uncertain.
