Hi,

My husband and I are preparing to move from Missouri to FL and we keep leaning towards the Clearwater/Tampa areas. We're in our mid to late 20s and have 1 small child. This is our first move out of state!

We would like to live somewhere where there are people our age but not looking for a party town or anything like that.

Initally we're wanting to rent for a while and are willing to pay up to 900 in rent. Close to the beach and somewhat close to a hospital (I'm a nurse) as well as close to shops and entertainment...

Any input about towns or specific places would much appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Safety Harbor....great little community. 2 miles from Mease Countryside Hospital and about 5 miles from Morton Plant Mease (Great Hospital) in Clearwater. 20 minutes from Clearwater Beach. 20 minutes from Downtown Tampa. I would recommend the west side of Largo or St Petersburg. They place you close to the beaches and have a younger vibe than Safety Harbor which while nice, isn't exactly a "young place to live". Indian Rocks Beach is beautiful ( Pinellas County Park Department - Virtual Tour ) and close to the west side of Largo. You can actually walk to the beach from the west Walsingham Road or West Bay Drive area. The Pinellas Trail is also nearby, which is a 47 mile former rail-bed converted to a biking/jogging trail that extends through the west side of Pinellas County. Pinellas Trail (http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/12_Trail.htm - broken link)

Downtown St Pete has some nice restaurants, shops, brewpubs, etc.

Bayfront Medical Center in St Pete is the big hospital in the area. St Anthony's and the VA Hospital in St. Pete, as well as Largo Medical Center are good-sized hospitals too.

Seminole is supposed to be a good family city in Central Pinellas. The schools are good, it's close to hosptals, it's about equidistant from St. Pete and Clearwater, and very close to the beach.

Niceguy really gave an informative post... I would agree with it for the most part. West Largo is a very centrally located area and there are many things to do, including 2 very awesome parks (Largo Central, Walsingham). You would also only be about a 5 minute drive to the beach and there are numerous hospitals all within about 5 miles (Largo Med, Suncoast, Morton Plant). Its also only a very short drive to Clearwater or St Pete
