How would you like to be an artist (music or otherwise) and have to tell people the venue you will be playing is 1-800-ASK-GARY! People would start cracking up...I mean...they WILL start cracking up. I would be embarrassed to have to tell people the name of the venue I'd be playing if I was a reputable "earned" my due class act! LOL...I'm sorry, I just can't get over it. ONLY IN TAMPA!

You know, something about it is more appealing than some of our other corporate places, like Raymond James Stadium and the St. Pete Times Forum. Maybe it's just me.

I think you are right...They probably have to pay additional for every call made to their 800 #....so call call call....

It will probably get a nickname like "the Gary" or something. I though it was bad when they changed the Ice Palace to St. Pete Times forum......

But you know what - it's a good thing for a city to have a sense of humour, and this is hilarious!

I saw this article on TBO.com and had no idea who Ask Gary is. So I googled it and to my dismay its a accident/injury lawyer referral line. There is an auto insurance guy in the Seattle area named Vern Fonk, so I guess the name could always be worse.

While figuring out the area and looking at upcoming concerts I became familiar with the Ford Ampitheater name and thought of it to be a decent, corporate sponsored venue name. I think Raymond James and Tropicana Field are acceptable name. The St. Pete Times Forum which is located in Tampa is a terrible name and causes confusion. 1-800-ASK-GARY Ampitheater is absolutely horrible and embarrassing and I am fearful on what will happen to ticket prices since 'Lawyers' are now sponsoring this venue. I think it would be interesting if several attendees became injured at an event at this venue and called 1-800-ASK-GARY to sue..... well.... 1-800-ASK-GARY.

This is hilarious and soooo fitting for the area!
Let's be proactive in making sure everyone from outside the state knows how to pronounce it correctly -- One Eight Hundred Akkks Gary.
I agree, you hit the nail on the head with that, that fits this area to a tee.
