I currently live in California, and I'm strongly considering moving to the Tampa area some time in the summer of next year. My guy's company happens to have an office in Tampa, close by USF, and since we love traveling to Florida for vacations, we really want to move there.

I've read many other threads and posts here already, in regards to nice cities or areas to live in, but I haven't found what I'm looking for. Since his job would be near USF (near the 75), we'd like to lease an apartment or condo in a decent to nice area, that's no more than 15 miles from his job. I'm looking for places that are in areas that don't have high crime rates, lots of shopping and restaurants nearby, and within a 30-minute drive of his job.

I know this is a repeat question on this board, but I'd like to get the names of recommended cities/areas, so when we take a trip there later this year, we can drive around and see for ourselves what every area looks like. Thanks for any information.

Would be helpful to know your budget but we are in New Tampa which is close to USF and a nice area. More family oriented but lots of shopping and close to everything you would need. If you are interested in a huge night life though you probably want to be closer to Tampa.

Sorry about that. Budget wise, we'll be able to afford rent rates up to $1,200/month, but for sure would pay less if we find a place that's nice enough and fits the criteria we're looking for. Thank you.

We're 40-ish in age, no kids and not really into night life, as far as clubs, partying, etc.
