I found working for myself paid much better. I opened a Adult Family Care Home. (Which is now for sale). I made a six figure salary and went to work in my slippers...very rewarding!

My wifs friend daughter is a traveling nurse. She came here for a vacation and said traveling nurses avoid Florida and other southern states because of the low pay. Right now she is on her way back home to Michigan after an assignment in Honolulu Hawaii. She has been to Denver , and Boston also. The company pays her for her airfare, and a place to live.

I hear that the best paid LPN jobs are at the VA hospitals.

The need for LPN's is in Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) or Nursing Homes. Home Health Companies also have a need. These are not good jobs, and at times back-breaking. The Trade Schools are fast-tracking drop-out's and GED student in a few years to fill these positions for little more than minimum wage.

Maybe for CNA's, but not nurses.

I am also wondering about that area. Any departments/ specific places to apply? I am hoping to have my RN within the next year but we are looking at moving to Clearwater area. Any help would be wonderful. Are there any hospitals that hire LPNs there? A year ago I called around and all of them said no...
