Hey.... I think you may be trying to have me dress weird so you can identify the white pasty guy in tie dye shirts and cutoff jeans from Alaska......

Thanks for the thread OP! Ours this month was $525 (2500 sq ft, 6 hrs pool pump, XL19i Trane)... makes me completely confident in the decision to have our ducts replaced. We average $400/mo here and it's hot as can be in the summer (AC set at 74- really is 82-85) and COLD during the winter. Water runs us $30/mo- we just don't use an abundance of utilities and yet have crazy bills for heat and AC

We've got a 950 sq ft condo, concrete construction, 30 year old building. A/C is set on 80. Last month we weren't there at all--I was pleased to see the bill was only $43. I think having neighbors on both sides and above helps a lot, along with the shade from landscaping. Some of you folks were scaring me.

Shoot 193 dollars is NOTHING. I live in Dallas TX and our summer bills ran about 350-400 for a 1000 square foot older house. Friends of ours that had a new house 2000 square feet had the same kind of bill which is freaking high. I lived in Fort Lauderdale 2007-08 and my highest summer bill in a 2000 square foot 2 story was 165.00. I'm trying to move BACK to FL because the cost of living here keeps going up and I see Florida going down, especially outside of Miami/Fort Lauderdale. And we are land locked, smoggy, congested, dirty...etc. The people are rude..drivers are the worst in the country...I could go on and on. I'll take 193.00 any day...

Apparently you've missed the 14,000 posts flooding the Florida forums about how "wonderful" the people are here. Heck, just look at baynews9.com or some other Tampa Bay news site each day. If we can get by one week without a dozen child murders, kidnappings, or toddler rapes, it's a good week!

yeah I too am sick of these utility bills. Being from Chicago, the electric and water are over double here. I have a 3500 sq ft house that is 5 years old (3 seperate central systems) all brand new 17 SEER high efficiency, leave the house at 78 during the day and it sets to 77 at night. Pool pump runs about 6 hours. All Energy Star appliance and TVs etc.. Our bill is over 400 per month. BS.

Did you have the same size home in Chicago?
What were the heating bills in the winter?

It sounds like you have a 2 story home which will generally run higher than a single story.
